Position:  Chief Operations Officer

Salary Range: $60,00-$70,000

Primary Purpose:

This position will be responsible for planning and implementing programs that meet regulatory requirements for facility maintenance, transportation, emergency management, child nutrition, technology and transportation. Perform other tasks and jobs assigned by Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university CPA preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of school purchasing procedures

Ability to communicate effectively with custodial and campus staff, bilingual preferred Ability to manage personnel and effectively resolve conflict

Ability to publicly report department progress

Effective planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Demonstrates project management and facilitation skills

Knowledge of PC based computer systems utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience:

At least 3-5 years job related experience; and three years in a supervisory capacity preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Serve as the after-hours emergencies
  • Implement federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy
  • Prepare plans and specifications for facilities, transportation, food services and technology contracts for submission to the
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
  • Attend professional growth activities
  • Meet frequently with Executive Director
  • Attend school board meetings
  • Other duties as

Facility maintenance

  • Administer schedules and procedures for the custodial care of all district
  • Manage the usage of custodial supplies, produce accurate reports of supply usage, and recommend cost savings
  • Provide custodial training
  • Correct unsafe working
  • Facilitate safety training program and dissemination of related information
  • Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program
  • Initiate purchase orders and bids in accordance with budgetary limitations and district

Transportation

  • Ensure safe, efficient operation of transportation
  • Manage the delivery of transportation services for students and ensure that they are picked up and arrive
  • safely and on
  • Coordinate transportation for extracurricular activities and special
  • Communicate changes in routes and scheduling to campuses and the public when warranted

Emergency management

  • Help develop, adopt, and oversee a multi-hazard emergency operations plan that addresses prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery
  • Advise and/or train continuing education requirements and training required by the state
  • Develop a drill schedule and participate in campus drills
  • Assist with the monitoring and response for weather and/or security incidents
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of future safety and security systems for new and existing buildings and ensure that building standards for instructional facilities provide a secure and safe environment

Child nutrition

  • Direct and manage the district’s food service
  • Establish the direct process of providing free and reduced lunch applications following United States Department of Agriculture and Mississippi Department of Agriculture guidelines for meal eligibility and reimbursement of federal
  • Ensure federal and state compliance with the National School Lunch and Breakfast
  • Ensure that food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies, procedures, and department
  • Establish and enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety following health and safety codes and regulations and assist in the development of a program of preventative

Technology

  • Oversee district-wide support for technology which includes, but is not limited to, the evaluation, installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrading of technology devices and
  • Oversee cross-training assignments and practices of department
  • Oversee technology needs during the renovation of existing buildings as well as the new construction of buildings
  • Lead project management of district-wide technology deployments and
  • Develop documentation of technology processes and procedures
  • Devise, develop, implement, and maintain systems of internal controls, emergency and backup procedures, proper licensing, system upgrades, and disaster recovery plans to ensure integrity of information, security of databases, internal network access controls, and cyber security protocols in compliance with local, state, and federal
